JANUARY 2016 NEWSLETTER
New Year, New Kids, New Challenges... Same Mission!!
The school reopened mid-January and after some cleaning by the volunteers that were there at the time (Terry and Najade), the school was ready to go once again! Due to the long Christmas holidays some children were a bit slow to come back to the school, but by the end of January most of the children who were coming in December came back to the school. Some children left to go to different schools, whilst we are delighted to have some new children joining the school for this year. The new children are all enthusiastic to learn and we look forward to teaching them this year. Could this be the year you volunteer with FMA? It's always good to have a new year's resolution, so why not make yours volunteering in Santa Marta and helping out kids less fortunate than you? If you are interested head over to our contact page and we'll try our best to answer any questions you may have. Any of our past volunteers will tell that it is a great experience working with foundation and is an eye-opening experience. From a personal point of the view, I can't recommend it highly enough. I arrived almost 6 months ago and have loved every minute working with the children. There hasn't been a single day that I have arrived at the school and not been greeted with smiles and hugs. The endless enthusiasm of the kids certainly wakes you up in the morning! Over the Christmas holiday two of our volunteers who had both been with us for many months took the tough decision to leave the foundation. Although Amy Ford and Erin Lynch remain living in Santa Marta and Taganga, unfortunately they no longer had the time to volunteer with FMA. We are very grateful for all the hard work they put in to the school and wish them well with their next adventures!
