volunteer testimonials

Volunteering overseas is something many people think about doing at least once in their lives. However, the reality of volunteering can often be very different to what was expected. Many organisations charge large amounts of money and volunteers begin to feel like part of a commercial process rather than really helping local people and finish their placement feeling disillusioned and uninspired by their experiences.

Previous volunteers have stated this as one of main reasons they wanted to work for FMA. The foundation was founded by Oscar Cortes, a former Colombian street kid,  so he can really relate to the experiences of the kids that FMA works with. FMA is a small, locally run organisation therefore there are always tangible and direct results from the work carried out by our volunteers. After just a few days teaching in the classroom, volunteers start to notice the impact they are having on in the kids.
