how we use our funds

You can be assured that Fundación Mariposas Amarillas spends funds efficiently. We cherish all of our supporters and strive to use the valuable resources donors have provided in the most cost effective ways. Our costs are kept as low as possible.  We don't have an office, though we may acquire one soon thanks to a generous international donor.

 

Our income currently derives from:  

 

1. Volunteers paying a 70USD donation when they come to work with us. 

2. Other donations sent to us from past volunteers or our supporters overseas.

3. Local fundraising events we hold, such as quiz nights in local hostels.

 

This money goes towards our local director's salary (at the moment this is a full-time job), electricity, water, maintenance and classroom furniture for our school. The organization is furthermore dependent on volunteers donating their time and making physical donations such as books, pens, pencils and other supplies for their classes.

 

The organization is registered in Santa Marta, Colombia, as a ‘tax assessable entity with NIT’ (Número de Identificación Tributaria) number 900154941-1. Our financial statement and an audit is conducted every year by H & D Asociados, Asesorias Contables, Tributarias, Financieras y Juridicas (NIT: 12.564.828-5).
